Devotees of this much-loved iconic Australian brand will attest to the supreme comfort, great fit and stylishly contemporary fashioning of their bras, singlets and briefs. The Bonds Story

American George Alan Bond began manufacturing hosiery from a small factory in Sydney in 1917. By the following year, he had purchased another factory and set about producing men's underwear. Within a few short years, Bond's Men's Cotton Athletic Singlet was such a winner that the singlet and the ad-agency-created caricature, Chesty Bond Man, catapulted the Bonds brand to underwear superstardom in Australia!

Fast forward to 1955 when Bonds introduced to the womens intimate apparel market their now-iconic Cottontails underpants. These high waisted, low-leg cut, full-coverage pants could best be described to any woman who has never owned a pair as akin to the comfortable 'knickers' that Bridget Jones famously favoured in the film 'Bridget Jones' Diary'- the ultimate comfy briefs!

In 1999 with the fashions trending towards low rise jeans and hip-hugging looks, Bonds lowered the Cottontails waistband by 7.5 centimetres and introduced the now-classic Bonds Hipsters.

All-Australian girl, Sarah O'Hare (she married Lachlan Murdoch in 1999) had her first ever modelling assignment for Australian Harper's Bazaar, re-located to New York in 1992 , walked international catwalks for the likes of Dior and Yves St.Laurent, and appeared in the Swimsuit Edition of Sports Illustrated. Bonds invited her to represent the brand in 2001 and her natural, fashionable yet approachable style and down-to-earth appeal made her the perfect Ambassador for Bond's new collections of women's intimate apparel - emobodying the fun, colour and fashionability of Bonds women's underwear - for every woman. The trend towards men's-style underwear for women - including boylegs and singlets - was driven by her earthy girl-next-door qualities and in a famous TV campaign with the tag "For Hard-Working Girls", she wore a pair of women's boxer shorts that sold out almost immediately after the ad first went to air!

She most recently launched the 2010 Bonds campaign celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the original Bonds Hipster with a revamped collection of hip-huggers that are perfect under skinny jeans, leggings and low-rise skirts.

There would be rioting on the streets if Bonds ever ceased to produce the famous Cottontails so this season, while the classic cut and colours are there, the latest look Cottontails now also come in Blue Denim Marle and cute midi Cottontails that sit slightly lower than the full brief while still offering the same full bottom coverage.

Hipsters are very now in prints that are bright and energetic in a choice of fashionable and contemporary cuts with super soft elastic for extra comfort and better fit. The latest range of Hiphangers come in a wide variety of fabulous colours and prints in many styles from bikinis and briefs to hi tops and boylegs.
