The History of Jantzen Swimwear
As one of the world's best known and best-loved brands Jantzen Swimwear have been producing superior quality swimwear for over 50 years.
The Jantzen Swimwear story started in 1913, when the Portland Knitting Company, owned by John A. Zentbauer, Ray Zentbauer and Carl C. Jantzen created the first modern style swimsuit. This forerunner to the swimwear of today was knitted and was one of the first attempts to make bathing suit which was suitable for swimming. Previous garments had been too heavy and restrictive to allow the wearer to move around in the water, so this new design was a revolution for both men and women.
In the 1920s, the company added a new feature to their swimwear an attractive logo which is known as the Red Diving Girl. The pin-up style logo of a pretty girl wearing a red swimsuit soon became instantly recognisable as being the brand symbol and was popular as a decorative windscreen sticker throughout the United States.
Jantzen Swimwear was renamed in 1949, and continued to excel within the industry, providing swimwear which is not only stylish and streamlined, but perfect for the active lifestyle. Over the years the brand have even attracted attention from celebrity fans Princess Diana was photographed wearing one of the retro swimwear inspired styles, while the glamorous Hollywood darling Elizabeth Taylor donned the brand for her movie A Place in the Sun.
The Jantzen Swimwear Look
The Jantzen Swimwear look defines elegance and femininity, with a diverse range of classic fit swimsuits and two pieces. Jantzen Swimwear offers a more modest look than many of its contemporaries, intended to flatter the figure and create a sleek silhouette, without flaunting too much skin. The collection combines understated colour-ways with subtle prints to create a range which will appeal to the woman who wants to look gorgeous and feel confident and comfortable, whether she is doing laps in the local swimming pool or relaxing on an exotic cruise.
Tips for Accessorising Your Jantzen Swimsuit
The charming vintage inspired look of Jantzen Swimwear needs very little accessorising, as the quality, cut and colours speak for themselves. On the beach, a great pair of sunglasses and a straw-hat are all that you need! When it comes to stepping off the beach perhaps for lunch at a casual dress venue, slip on a breezy cover-up and a stunning pair of wedge shoes or a dainty sandal, and you are good to go!
