Retro Swimwear for Everyone

Retro swimwear has officially reinstated itself as a fashion staple, it has been around for many years, but many believed it was only for pin-up girls. Due to the growing popularity of this swimwear it is safe to say that people have recognised that this retro trend can look good on different age groups and body types. If you browse through different designer catalogues you will undoubtedly see a retro swimwear somewhere in the mix. The growing popularity of this type of swimwear may also be due in part to the many celebrities that the media has shown lying on the beach in their retro swimwear. Another reason this swimwear is so popular is that it flatters many different body types and that is not always an easy task to accomplish.

Types of Retro Swimwear

These types of swimwear are usually categorised according to different decades and they also have different names. In the early 90s designers introduced the retro swimwear known as the dressmaker, it was usually worn with stocking because women were not supposed to show their legs. Today you can find many variations of the dressmaker' the hemlines are now lower and the hemlines are higher and of course it is no longer worn with stockings. A few years later came the maillot; this was a backless style that showed a lot more skin than earlier versions. Since then there have been many different types and today there are options to flatter most if not all body types.
